What's with the Bird?
About ten years ago, a young, newly-wed couple (Jake & Becky Curtis) were getting ready for Christmas. They were struggling financially and discouraged during what's supposed to be "the most wonderful time of the year".
Late one night they heard a loud knock at their apartment door. It startled them both, but upon investigating, all they could see was a cardboard box. When they pulled it inside and opened it up, they found presents, money and household items.
Attached to the box was a note that simply read: Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. (Matthew 6:26)
That night the couple was overwhelmed with God's love, faithfulness and provision. Over the next few years they worked hard, made good decisions, trusted God and they continued to see His faithfulness and blessings year after year.
When Becky Curtis started Curtis Creation she chose the bird as the symbol because it's a reminder that God is faithful to provide for all of our needs.
But wait, the story doesn't end there!
Curtis Creation began to take off and Jake & Becky were praying for God to send them some part time help. By only a divine miracle, they crossed paths with a newly single mom of two kids who desperately needed not just the work, but a friend to guide her.
I'm that single mom. My name is Susie and I used to work for Becky & Jake Curtis, some of my very favorite people. I know God led me to their house that day. He provided not just a job, but the love and support I so desperately needed. I now stand amazed at the opportunity He has given me to run Curtis Creation as owner.
That same bird that reminded them of God's provision reminds me of His goodness!
The thread of God's great love and mercy is woven into the fabric of our lives. It's an honor for me to take the reins while the Curtis' family moves on to the next chapter of their lives, and it is my prayer that He would bless your household the same way He has blessed all of ours!
